snake catching and the ordinary aucklander: a history

Our voting papers for the Local Government elections arrived on the weekend, along with the usual array of electoral campaign rants which promise much and say very little.

But I was most bemused by this comment from Elliot Blade, a candidate standing for Auckland City Councillor: "A wide range of jobs, including dairy farming, snake catching and waterfront work, has grounded me in the realities of ordinary people's lives."

really?!?

Ahh well, I guess it could be a handy skill if John Banks gets back in...
